Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA said Tuesday that it would supply offshore wind turbines to power a 2.6-gigawatt project in the U.S.

The Spanish wind-turbine maker said it would provide SG 14-222 direct drive offshore wind turbines to Dominion Energy Inc.'s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project. The installation is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

"The exact quantity of turbines to be deployed is subject to final project site conditions," the company said.

Siemens Gamesa also said the agreement is subject to Dominion Energy's final investment decision and other required approvals.

The project is expected to provide enough clean energy to power 650,000 homes at rated wind speed, it added.
