Enel SpA received notice of a non-binding offer by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, a division of Macquarie Group, for part or all of its 50% stake in Open Fiber SpA, the company said Tuesday in response to media reports.

The Rome-based energy company said the board of directors acknowledged the notice by Macquarie Infrastructure Real Asset at a meeting last week and is currently "awaiting further news concerning subsequent developments."

Open Fiber is a wholesale operator jointly owned by Enel and Italian state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti SpA.
