Veneto: investment of € 190 million to increase efficiency of the area's electricity service

Investments in Veneto will amount to € 1.5 billion over the course of the Development

Plan.

TERNA: AUTHORISATION PROCEDURE LAUNCHED FOR THE

RATIONALISATION OF THE ELECTRICITY GRID

BETWEEN MALCONTENTA AND FUSINA

24 km of underground power lines will be laid and over 21 km of old overhead power lines and 89 pylons demolished

The rationalisation will return around 53 hectares of land

Environmental monitoring: experimentation with advanced sensor technology on the regional electricity grid will continue

Rome, 18 June 2020 - Tomorrow Terna will publish the notice containing the list of the parcels of land potentially involved in the works, which will take place in the municipalities of Venice and Mira and follow the launch on 26 May of the authorisation procedure by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development for the rationalisation of the electricity grid between Malcontenta and Fusina. Citizens, and in particular the owners of the land affected by the works, can view the project in electronic format via the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of Land and Sea, in the municipalities of Venice and Mira. It is possible to write to the aforementioned Ministries with comments and observations and, for information, to Terna within 30 days from publication of the notice.

The investment in rationalising the electricity grid between Malcontenta and Fusina, worth around € 190 million , will increase the efficiency of the region's electricity system. The project involves the development and rearrangement of 132, 220 and 380 kV power lines in the section between the Enel Palladio thermal power plant in Fusina and the area to the west of the Strada Statale Romea. The planned activities include the construction of a new 380 kV connection between the Fusina electrical substation and the Fusina 2 electrical substation, the laying of 24 km of underground power lines and the consequent demolition of over 21 km of power lines and 89 pylons, the expansion of the Fusina 2 electrical substation and the reconstruction of the Malcontenta electrical substation. Overall, the works will free up more than 53 hectares of land. The works, which also include burying existing overhead power lines in the Vallone Moranzani area, are part of a larger plan to restructure the electricity grid between Venice and Padua, as set out in the

Memorandum of Understanding signed by Terna and the Veneto Region on 21 January 2019.

Over the next few years, Terna's Development Plan involves an investment of € 1.5 billion aimed at ensuring greater efficiency and resilience for Veneto's electricity infrastructure. Some of the main works will be: completion of the rationalisation between Venice and Padua, which includes the new underground cable line between Dolo and Camin; the new electrical substation in Volpago del Montello, with associated grid restructuring; the rationalisation of the electricity grid in the Middle Piave Valley; and the closing of the new underground cable connection between Cortina and Auronzo di Cadore.

Furthermore, experimentation with the use of the regional electricity grid for environmental monitoring in the area will continue, the result of an agreement signed between Terna and the Veneto Region signed on 18 February 2020. The Company has developed and installed an integrated advanced sensor system in Veneto, featuring about 500 IoT (Internet of Things) devices on its grids, which allow the collection and analysis in real-time of useful information for greater efficiency and flexibility in the regional electricity system. The data collected may be shared with ARPAV (the Regional Agency for Environmental Prevention and Protection in the Veneto Region), the Italian Civil Protection Department, research institutes and local protection and control bodies, with a view to better predicting emergencies.
