Tenaris Chief Commercial Officer for the US, Guillermo Moreno, shared guidance, career highlights and insights at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Young Professionals flagship conference, Roughneck Camp 2020.

Moreno joined executives from Chevron, Shell, BP America, and others, in speaking on this year's camp theme of Resilience: The Key to Riding the Oil Cycles.

The Roughneck Camp, now in its 17th year, shifted from an in-person to fully digital summit in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The one-day event aims to inform those entering the energy sector, or early in their careers, as they build out their paths.

Moreno spoke about leveraging market lows to innovate, grow and seize opportunities.

'Times of crisis challenge perspectives and inspire one to think outside the box. This is where meaningful change is introduced, and in which one can grow, professionally and personally,' said Moreno.

Moreno honed in on Tenaris's long-term approach guiding its industrial evolution, and strategy of generating and strengthening its value offer during down cycles. Rig Direct® was first introduced in the 2015-16 market downturn, reshaping the tubular supply chain, working directly with customers throughout the lifecycle of their drilling projects. Tenaris's first greenfield US project - a seamless pipe mill in Bay City, TX - was constructed during this challenging period and came online at the end of 2017.

Moreno is advancing the company's Rig Direct® commercial model through digital integration to simplify and further streamline operations and enhance the customer experience from order, production to delivery.

He shared his professional journey, starting in his home country of Argentina, and the growth in roles and responsibilities at Tenaris, where he has tenure of more than 30 years.

'There are many opportunities and space in oil and gas to innovate. It was great to be able to share with future leaders, who will power the forward movement of the sector, my experiences that have shaped my vision and how they can and will contribute.'
