WAYNE, Pa. (AP) _ Teleflex Inc. (TFX) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $11.5 million.

On a per-share basis, the Wayne, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of 24 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.93 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.24 per share.

The medical equipment maker posted revenue of $567 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $532.6 million.

Teleflex shares have risen roughly 7% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 15% in the last 12 months.
