NORTH CANTON, Ohio (AP) _ Timken Co. (TKR) on Monday reported second-quarter profit of $61.9 million.

The North Canton, Ohio-based company said it had net income of 82 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.02 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 33 cents per share.

The maker of bearings and power transmissions posted revenue of $803.5 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $705.2 million.

Timken shares have declined 19% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased almost 6% in the last 12 months.
