HILLIARD, Ohio (AP) _ Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. (WMS) on Thursday reported fiscal first-quarter net income of $69.1 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Hilliard, Ohio-based company said it had profit of 83 cents.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 65 cents per share.

The maker of water drainage systems and pipes posted revenue of $508.6 million in the period.

Advanced Drainage shares have climbed 36% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 59% in the last 12 months.
