Brexit : Brexodus. A new word. It means I am leaving the United Kingdom

Brexodus is a new word invented by the Guardian newspaper, precisely by J, to explain that already EU citizens are making their way to Heathrow airport and the Channel Tunnel. To leave the UK.

It will be a steady, inexorable movement. Well educated EU nationals with a global job market at their feet, turning their back on a country they have thought of as a good and safe place to make their homes.

A study by Deloitte says very clearly that nearly half of all highly skilled EU workers could leave the UK within 5 years.

Some of them have already left, others are actively making plans.

They refuse to become a bargaining chip. The government of Mrs May provided secret assurances to foreign car makers if they decided to stay in the UK. It did not make any such secret assurances to the 3 million individuals who work in the UK and contribute enormously to the country’s prosperity.

The EU nationals know that they have highly sought after skills.

Austria, Netherlands, eastern European members, Germany, France and Holland as well, are already looking at those girls and boys.

Once again, after the publication of this manifesto, I wonder. Why on earth does the UK want to leave Europe? Britain is not a huge ship which could move a few thousand miles  and moor off in New York or Australia. It is where it is. To stay there.
