Tenaris S A : and Samsung close commercial agreement for Dos Bocas Refinery in Mexico

01/22/2021 | 05:42pm EST

PUBLISHED ON 01/22/2021

Representatives from Samsung Engineering visited Tamsa, Tenaris's seamless mill in Veracruz, Mexico, as part of an agreement for the supply of coated tubes for the second phase of the Dos Bocas Refinery, Mexico's largest hydrocarbon processing project.

During the visit, which was carried out following COVID-19 protocols, representatives from Samsung Engineering learned about the industrial capabilities of the Tamsa mill, where pipes and accessories for the Dos Bocas Refinery will be manufactured. Extensive documentation, as well as color-coded striping and special packaging, were required by the customer, adding challenges throughout the manufacturing and delivery process.

The Dos Bocas Refinery is a project which is being developed by Pemex Transformación Industrial, the downstream arm of Pemex. Expected to be completed in 2023, the refinery will consist of 17 operating process plants, a power and auxiliary services unit, cooling towers and a section of water treatment plants with a capacity of around 340,000 barrels of crude per day.

'This project is designed to help the country achieve self-sufficiency in the production of gasoline and diesel. We are prepared to supply our full range of products and services for this plant,'shared Fernando Cadena, Senior Commercial Director at Tenaris in Mexico.

The agreement with Samsung includes the provision of pipes and accessories from Tenaris's mills in Mexico, Italy, Argentina and Romania. It also enables the company to continue supplying products for the next phases of the Dos Bocas Refinery project.
