| Media Prima Television Networks Presents Its Universe of 2014 Innovative, Integrated Offerings
Kuala Lumpur, 8 November 2013 - Media Prima Television Networks today unveils a new slate of content and offerings to be delivered across its media platforms in 2014. Presented at the annual Media Prima Television Networks Screenings, the innovative programming line-ups and cross-platform avenues are in line with the network's ambition to broaden its integrated marketing offerings, while maintaining its top position in the Malaysian broadcasting industry.
The theme for Media Prima Television Networks Screenings is 'Welcome to Our Universe which highlighted the entire Media Prima platform as being in its universe. This Media Prima Universe is Malaysia's largest media platform that consists of the nation's leading most-watched television channels (TV3, ntv7, 8TV and TV9), as well as the respective channels' official websites, social media platforms with massive followers, and biggest on-ground events catered to all market segments. The universe also includes other platforms by its sister companies such as Media Prima Digital platform (Tonton and Gua.com.my); radio (Hot FM, Fly FM and One FM); print media (New Straits Times, Berita Harian and Harian Metro) and Outdoor (Big Tree, Kurnia and Gotcha).
In 2014, Media Prima is expected to bring over 100 new programmes across four of its top-rated television channels, TV3, ntv7, 8TV and TV9. These programmes include a combination of local blockbusters, such as drama series, reality shows, cooking shows, talk shows, variety programmes, documentaries and many more. In ensuring that the content meets viewers' expectation and world-class standards, a number of these programmes are co-produced in association with leading media houses around the world.
Several flagship programmes are expected to return with bigger, better brand new seasons following the remarkable response received over this year. 2014 is also the year where Media Prima places immense focus on bringing high-profile sports content across channels to recreate the success garnered from football matches aired in the last two years.
Speaking at the event held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Ahmad Izham Omar, Chief Executive Officer Television Networks, Media Prima Berhad said, "At Media Prima, our focus for 2014 is to showcase content that has the ability to engage viewers across various demographics, while bringing them together through our media platforms, including Television, Radio, Digital, Print and Outdoor."

Media Prima leads the industry with the ability to reach the largest audience base of over 24 million Malaysians every day on both terrestrial and satellite television networks. TV3 continues to uphold its position as the No. 1 channel with key timeslots that are performing even better than before.
Along with this, the network strives to bring brands onto its social media platforms while enabling them to capitalise on the growing online viewer base on Tonton, the No.1 Malaysian Video Portal, which draws up to 8 million monthly video views.
Media Prima is also committed to creating exciting on-ground events and live shows that provide brands an effective opportunity to get closer to their audience, both offline and online.

TV3, MALAYSIA'S MOST WATCHED TV CHANNEL
Ushering into its 30th anniversary celebration next year, TV3 continues to deliver bold and innovative content to the mass audience with its drama series, reality TV and magazine programmes that dominate both the prime time and fringe time segments. TV3 has maintained an audience viewing share of 24 per cent on both free-to-air and paid television.
Drama & Cooking Show
Its runaway success is contributed by Akasia drama slot, consistently reaching more than 11 million viewers in 2013. Akasia is by far the network's best performing drama segment that successfully captures audience with adaptation of popular Malay novels. Ariana Rose, Jika Itu Takdirku and Aku Isterinya are some of up and coming titles.
As it continues to bring engaging local drama series, TV3 dominates even at fringe time with Azalea slot at 4.00 - 5.00pm, reaching more than 2 million viewers with Derhaka Seorang Madu as well as Dapur Panas, the channel's brand new cooking show featuring Chef Nik Michael during the Ramadhan month. The programme has successfully outperformed its competitor with 1.8 million viewers. Dapur Panas will be making a comeback at 11:30am, taking over the successful Spice Routes and 5 Rencah 5 Rasa.
Sustaining its momentum in dominating the mass affluent Malay market, TV3 will be introducing new local dramas, (Cerita Cinta Kita, Jalan Mati and Cinta Ilahi), including the return of top rated comedy franchises such as Bintang Mencari Bintang (Season 2) and Liga Lawak Superstar (Season 2) and the channel's reality TV talent show, Mentor Legend.
30th Anniversary: Special Event
As the premier place for local dramas, TV3 will be organising its first ever Drama Festival by TV Networks in collaboration with TV9. The four-month long campaign consisting of on air, on ground and online which leads up to our three-day Drama Festival on ground in February 2014 featuring top artists, directors, producers, scriptwriters, workshops, auditions and more, aimed to bring Malaysia's local drama scene to the next level.
2014 will also see returning flagship programmes on TV3. These include Unsung Places, a travelogue series to unveil unexplored, unknown yet interesting places worldwide; Misi K, a CSR magazine show featuring humanitarian and peace activities organised by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Malaysia with the ultimate aim to provide aid to overseas' community who need help; as well as popular magazine shows including NONA, 999 and the multi award winning Majalah 3.
ntv7 - THE HOME OF FEEL GOOD
ntv7, the channel that draws the modern urban progressive adults (MUPAs) between 25-45 years old, sustains its proposition to be the home of feel good for both urban English-speaking and Chinese audience. The station will continue to host the ever popular international programmes such as Witches of East End, Once Upon A Time in Wonderland, Sleepy Hollow, and Marvel - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, with respective latest season to keep viewers entertained.
The channel will also bring a slew of outstanding local productions as below:
Bella Awards: Malaysia's 1st women's awards show to celebrate, recognise and honour successful women for their achievements and inspirational contributions to the nation is back for the 2nd year;
Penang Striker: An urban local series set in the 1920s, where a football match between the British masters and Chinese triads will take place to settle a dispute; and
Project Earth: A CSR magazine programme to give back to our community by helping the poor and unfortunate.
Local Hong Drama
ntv7's highly popular local Hong drama slot at 9.30pm will also continue its efforts in showcasing more exciting and high-quality local drama series including The Scavenger (an intense psychological suspense drama), On the Brink, riding on the success of The Undercover, which garnered more than 1 million viewers daily, and Teen Edge (a moral-driven show targeted at the youths). The channel will also bring back local hit dramas - In Laws (Season 2) and Love Compulsory (Season 3 & 4).
3rd Golden Awards
The channel will host the most prestigious Chinese TV award show for the Malaysian Chinese entertainment industry - the Golden Awards next year. This biennial award show which ranked No.1 Chinese Programme for the past two editions, have reached over 3 million Chinese viewers in Malaysia
Chinese New Year Telemovie
Viewers can expect yet another ground-breaking CNY telemovie by ntv7 next year featuring its Top 10 artistes, entitled, Spring Chorus. The Lunar New Year production is a unique, heart-warming musical drama that revolves around a family of five siblings who reunite to help their father who is suffering from Alzheimer to recall the memories
8TV - THE HIPPEST & TRENDIEST TV STATION
As 8TV celebrates its 10th Anniversary, the channel continues to mesmerize viewers with great programme line-ups. In 2014, 8TV will attempt to revive the most rewarding reality singing competition, One in a Million in search for the next Malaysian favourite pop star. A brand new talk show, The Not So Late Night Show will be introduced, featuring Razif Hashim from Best in the World. Viewers will be treated to locally produced shows, as well as popular content from Hollywood and Asia like Resurrection, Almost Human, The Tomorrow People, For You in Full Blossom, Nine: 9 Times Time Travel, The Stand-In and King Maker.
Local Reality & Variety Show
Key Urban and Chinese shows will be making a comeback on 8TV, set to entertain its viewers. Among the key programmes are Hip Hoppin' Asia, where Joe Flizzow once again delves into the farthest corners of Asia to unveil the origins of hip-hop, as well as Kan Cheong Kitchen, The Ultimate Song and Let's Cycle as part of their 10th Anniversary.
Other returning flagship programmes include Folks and Tales, Step Forward (Season 10) Treasure Hunt in Malaysia (Season 2), G-Thang (Season 2) and many more.
TV9, CAPTURING THE YOUNG AND VIBRANT MASS MALAY GENERATION
TV9, Malaysia's No. 1 TV station for Young Fresh Mass Malays, will be introducing an exciting new short drama slot called Shorties. This is the platform for budding film makers to showcase their talent and debut their short dramas to the masses. Idola Kecil, the all-time favourite reality talent show will be making a comeback next year and TV9 will also be introducing a brand new reality show called Idola K, the search for the next big boy band or girl group.
TV9 will strengthen its grip on the young fresh mass Malay generation with the introduction of new drama titles that feature unique characters and storytelling, like Ride, featuring Elfira Loy, as a law graduate turned fixie-bike concept café owner; Stella, a personified car with a human spirit; and Pengembaraan Jason Murad, a kindergarten teacher who joins every single reality show with the aim of becoming a superstar.
Ride is a 13-episodes drama series produced by Mermaid Pictures Sdn Bhd. This series centers on love and friendship of Elana (Elfira Loy), a law graduate who owns a fixie-bike concept café and her friends.
Stella is produced by Filmscape Sdn Bhd and will be aired in the Aurora slot. This 13-episodes drama series tells the story of Ally (Bil Azali), who purchased a new car and named it Stella. He treats Stella as if she is his girlfriend and he can feel Stella's presence whenever he needs her. Little did he know that the car was `possesed? by the spirit of a girl named Stella, who was in a tragic accident.
Pengembaraan Jason Murad is a 13-episode romantic musical series produced by Vision Works (M) Sdn Bhd. It focuses on Murad (Anas Ridzuan), who falls in love with a girl in his village but unfortunately she is engaged to a famous rising star from a reality show. Murad finds ways to win the girl's heart by entering every single reality show, in the hopes that he will become famous just like her fiancé.
The channel will continue to entice viewers under its youth belt, 9X with returning flagship programmes like Teen Wolf (Season 3), Mad Markets (Season 3), Switch Off (Season 3), Jetlag and many more.
9X will kick off the year with an exciting adventure game show called Ke Korea Ke Kita? featuring unlikely duo Myo (Oh! Chentaku) and Wak Doyok as they take over the land of K-Pop sensation. To continue its commitment to always experiment and offer fresh ideas to its target market, 9X will be launching a new talk show with a twist through District 9. Set in the setting of a Barber shop, celebrities will be grilled on a hot seat as they update the host and viewers on their latest happenings.
The success of the Teenwolf series proves that young audience are hungry for more action and fiction based content. Hence, the new English series Star Crossed will be one of the belts' biggest offerings for 2014. Star Crossed follows a romance between a human girl and an alien boy as he and 8 others of his kind adapts to their new life as high school kids.
One of the biggest innovations for TV9, Raudhah, consists of 3 components, Raudhah Generic TV belt, Raudhah Female TV belt known as Lin Nisa' and Raudhah Di Hatiku, a family carnival event. Raudhah generic TV belt is known for its multitude of well-loved talk shows and kids' content ranging from Tanyalah Ustaz, Halaqah, Semanis Kurma, Rasul Yang Kata, and many more. Targeted towards the mass Malay crowd, these line-ups continue to engage and strengthen its presence through an array of renowned guests and thought-provoking choice of topics in every episode.
On the other hand, recognising the importance and rising awareness of being part of the latest trends, while remaining rooted to the religion among young and stylish female Muslim, the female belt - Lin Nisa' was introduced. Lin Nisa' offers a host of female skewed contents including Hijab Stailista, S.I.S, Shoutul Quran and Tanyalah Ustazah. And to further engage our audience, the family carnival event, Raudhah Di Hatiku was introduced and will be in its 4th year in 2014, bringing the live and recorded programs, personalities and many other exciting activities on an even more intimate level to various mosques and other venues around Klang Valley as well as other states around Malaysia.
TAKING NEW MEDIA TO A HIGHER LEVEL WITH Tonton
As Media Prima tightens the integration of TV and digital, Tonton, has caught Malaysia by storm with over 3.3 million registered users and still growing. Tonton has also started producing its original series under the Tonton Original Series channel. Autumn Di Hatiku, a romantic comedy web series starring Kim Jin Sung from Korea, became #1 show for 4 weeks on Tonton with close to a million video views. Riding on the success, Tonton will be featuring Autumn Di Hatiku 2, as well as a slew of exclusive online content under the Tonton Original Series channel including 'Dan Calonnya Adalah...' and #something_stupid.
Tonton will also launch Tonton Music in the new year, in collaboration with Media Prima Radio Networks and TV9 where viewers will be able to create their own playlists, watch unplugged sessions, artists chat sessions and many more. Brands will also be able to sponsor playlists or have their fans create their own playlists and share it on social networks.
Bananana! WHERE KIDS RULE
The introduction of the multi-platform umbrella Bananana! has successfully strengthened Media Prima's foothold in kids entertainment. In just one year, the network became No. 1 in Local Animation, Local Telemovies, Local Dramas, Reality Show, and Foreign Syndications. Media Prima has also hosted the biggest on ground activation for kids - Bananana! Land.
In 2014, Bananana! will double the joy with the premiere of Bas Pintar, an exciting academic-based game show involving primary school kids aged 9-12 years old. Bas Pintar will pay a visit to selected schools and selected kids will get the chance to be part of the game show.
In its feat to strengthen its position as the entertainment hub for local animation, Bananana! will be launching new titles such as The Amazing Awang Khenit, Senariotoons and Puteri. Puteri is a brand new production as a result of a 360-degree collaboration between Media Prima and Les Copaque, the company that created the huge success, the Upin & Ipin series.
QUALITY, HIGHLY-FOLLOWED SPORTS CONTENT
Media Prima is also extending broader sport contents across its key channels following huge success garnered from football matches aired in 2013. UEFO EURO 2012, aired on ntv7 and TV3, reached 15.5 million viewers. In addition, the broadcast of Malaysia vs. FC Barcelona match on TV3 gained 4.7 million viewers, which was five times bigger than its competitive channel. Pesta Bola Merdeka was watched by over 5.8 million viewers. In 2014, viewers can look out for the Commonwealth Games (Glasgow, Scotland), Asian Games (Incheon, Korea), AFF Suzuki Cup and the most anticipated World Cup 2014 with Riuh Di Brazil.
