Ministry of Civil Defence Emergencies and Disaste : Search and rescue operation at Mir Mine in Yakutia continues

The search and rescue operation at the Mir Mine in Yakutia continues round the clock. The task group, headed by the Deputy Emergencies Minister Vladlen Aksyonov is working on site.

Recently, the rescuers managed to drain water from the open pit, pumping out more than 40,000 tons of water. This operation allowed continuing search and rescue operation.

Mine rescuers and miners continue clearing out rubble on mine floor -210, as well as examine the 300-meter section of a pipeline heading from the main pumping plant to the skip shaft. An underground base was deployed at the mine floor -210 in a coupling of a crosscut and a gradient. In order to prevent gushing during clearing of the rubble, the pump is being directed into cage of a skip shaft, prospecting well is being bored on mine floor -210.

Mine rescuers and divers examined mines and gradient on mine floor -327, as well as mines at spiral road.

The gas situation and water inflow in cage shaft are being constantly monitored, communication are being restored, ventilation shaft for the intake air was constructed. The SAR operations are being carried out in three shifts by groups of 60-80 people each round the clock.

The EmergencyResponseCenter was deployed in the Mir Mine administration building. The expert council and decision -making support center are working, cooperation with the federal executive authorities was established.

The managing bodies and forces of the Mirny town section of the Sakha (Yakutia) territorial subsystem of the Single State Disaster Management System and the Emergency Ministry's Sakha (Yakutia) Directorate are operating under the state of emergency.

A telephone hotline 8 (4112) 39-99-99 was set up at the Sakha Directorate and has received more than 400 calls. Emergency Ministry's psychologists provide aid to the miners' families each day.
