Zurich, Switzerland, April 26, 2019

ELECTRIC AGE (http://www.eage.com.cn/), a leading Chinese trade magazine, has unveiled the results of its "China Top 100 Electric Companies" annual ranking. ABB leads the ranking with nine of its local companies on the list. At the same time, several local ABB companies have also won the magazine's "Electric Product Innovation Prize" and the "Electric Industrial Leader Award".

"China Top 100 Electric Companies" is a reputable and independent annual ranking published by ELECTRIC AGE and sponsored by the China Machinery Industry Information Institute. The ranking is based on the companies' sales revenues in 2018. Many proud ABB employees attended an awards ceremony held in Beijing on April 25.

"As a technology leader focused on digital industries, ABB is committed to supporting China's ongoing industrial transformation. We have been engaged in many key projects, including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the venues and infrastructure for the 2022 Winter Olympics, the new Beijing Daxing International Airport, as well as China's `Belt and Road' projects in Argentina and in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E," said ZZ Zhang, Managing Director of ABB (China) Ltd.

ABB's local companies listed on "China Top 100 Electric Companies" include ABB Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd., ABB Beijing Drive Systems Co., Ltd., ABB Xiamen Low Voltage Equipment Co., Ltd., ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co., Ltd., Nanjing SAC Automation Co., Ltd., ABB High Voltage Switchgear Co., Ltd. Beijing, ABB Xinhui Low Voltage Switchgear Co., Ltd., ABB Shanghai Motors Co., Ltd. and ABB High Voltage Switchgear (Xiamen) Co., Ltd.

Furthermore, three innovative ABB products, including the HVDC converter valve, 110kV single stack capacitor bank and 1000 kV gas-insulated lines, won the "Electric Product Innovation Prize" based on the criteria of R&D investment, technical significance and market share. ABB Beijing Drive Systems Co., Ltd. and Nanjing SAC Automation Co., Ltd. won the "Electric Industrial Leader Award" due to their outstanding performances in terms of market competitiveness, R&D, revenue growth and reputation.

ABB has a full range of business activities in China - its second largest market - including R&D, manufacturing, sales and services. It has 19,500 employees located in 131 cities and at 44 local companies. In China, ABB has continuously improved its local R&D capabilities through investment and footprint optimization, with about 2,000 professionals dedicated to local innovation. In 2018, the ABB R&D team filed 29% more patents than in the previous year.

In November 2018, ABB opened a major innovation and manufacturing hub in Xiamen (https://new.abb.com/news/detail/10486/abb-inaugurates-advanced-innovation-and-manufacturing-hub-in-xiamen), China, representing a US$300 million investment.
