Charles Tuchinda Named Executive Chairman and Bob Katter Promoted to President

Hearst announced today that Charles Tuchinda, MD, has been named executive chairman of FDB (First Databank), with Bob Katter succeeding Tuchinda as president. FDB is the leading provider of drug and medical device knowledge. The announcement was made by Hearst President and CEO Steven R. Swartz and Hearst Health President Gregory Dorn, MD. The appointments are effective immediately. Katter will continue to report to Tuchinda.

“Chuck and Bob have worked together to build FDB into the dominant technology and care guidance leader it is today, and I am delighted for Bob to assume the role of president,” Dorn said.

In addition to his role as executive chairman of FDB, Tuchinda will continue to serve in his other roles as the executive vice president of Hearst Health, a vice president of Hearst and president of Zynx Health. He first joined Hearst in 2010.

“Bob and I have worked together for many years, and I look forward to extending our partnership as we diversify and expand globally,” Tuchinda said. “I am excited to further my work with all of the Hearst Health companies to grow, innovate and help improve health.”

Katter joined FDB in 2010 and has played a central role in growing the company to become a proven technology and care guidance leader both for medications and medical devices. He has led all commercial aspects of the company, helped drive customer satisfaction scores to record levels and diversified the business into new markets. Katter most recently served as FDB’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, leading all market and customer-facing functions. He is a veteran healthcare executive with experience leading companies in the healthcare technology and services industry. Prior to FDB, Katter was vice president, strategy and business development at McKesson’s RelayHealth division. Earlier in his career, he held operations and business development roles at MedicaLogic, Inc. and Vivra Specialty Partners. Katter earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Yale University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from St. Olaf College.

“FDB is a fantastic company that delivers on its mission to provide sophisticated solutions that help healthcare professionals make precise decisions,” Katter said. “It is an honor to lead the exceptional team at FDB as we work together to better serve our customers and support their mission to provide high-quality and cost-effective healthcare.”
