External trade unit values in the 1st quarter of 2013 lower than in the same period of 2012

According to provisional data, in the first quarter of 2013, compared to the first quarter of 2012, external trade unit values decreased by 1.8% on the export side and by 0.8% on the import side; compared to 2012 the export unit values were lower by 0.7% while the import unit values were higher by 0.3%.

Compared to the first quarter of 2012, the biggest falls of unit values on the export and also on the import side were registered with mineral fuels and lubricants and with chemical products. On the export side the unit values registered with mineral fuels and lubricants decreased by 11.2% and with chemical products by 6.4%, while on the import side the unit values registered with chemical products decreased by 4.4% and with mineral fuels and lubricants by 3.2%.

On the other hand, compared to the first quarter of 2012, the unit values registered with some groups of products increased quite significantly. On the export side the unit values registered with food and live animals increased by 6.2% and on the import side by 6.4%, while the unit values registered with animal and vegetable oils and fats increased by 4.4% on the export side and by 2.0% on the import side.

Increase in exports and decrease in imports in the 1st quarter of 2013, compared to the 1st quarter 2012

In the first quarter of 2013, compared to the first quarter of 2012, exports increased in real terms by 3.2%, while imports decreased in real terms by 0.5%.

Final data for 2012 will be published on the SI-STAT data portal on 27 June 2013.
