Air Liquide supports NASA's Artemis II mission with nitrogen supply
Air Liquide has announced that its subsidiary, Airgas, provided the critical high-pressure nitrogen required for the launch operations of NASA's Artemis II mission from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
As the first crewed flight of the Artemis program, this ten-day mission sent a four-person crew into lunar orbit, marking the first journey to lunar space in over 50 years and paving the way for a permanent human presence on the Moon.
Building on a long-standing collaboration between Air Liquide and NASA, Airgas supplied the essential high-pressure nitrogen for launch operations, sourced and delivered from its Merritt Island facility in Florida.
More broadly, the industrial gases group continues to play a pivotal role across the entire space exploration value chain, providing critical ground infrastructure as well as cryogenic equipment and systems for both launch vehicles and satellites.
Airgas provides essential high-flow nitrogen pumping and transport services for critical rocket testing and launches, supported by dedicated on-site supplies and air separation units.
L'Air Liquide is one of the world leaders in industrial and medical gas production. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
