Airbus has delivered the first H135 helicopter destined for Canada's Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program, marking a key milestone in the modernization of pilot training for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).
The H135 was selected by SkyAlyne, the prime contractor responsible for delivering the FAcT program, to meet the evolving training requirements of future RCAF helicopter pilots.
The H135 is part of an aircraft family with more than 1,600 units delivered to over 325 operators worldwide.
More than 200 helicopters from the H135 family have been delivered or are on order for military training missions, totaling more than 650,000 flight hours.
With this delivery, the RCAF joins 12 other military forces globally that utilize the H135. The Canadian Juno fleet will be based at 15 Wing Southport, with the 3 Canadian Forces Flying Training School.
'By working together in a spirit of collaboration, industry, the armed forces, and the government can perform better and faster, ensuring the RCAF has the best-trained aircrew in the world. Our selection of the CT-153 Juno (Airbus H135) is a central element of this initiative,' said Kevin Lemke, General Manager of SkyAlyne.
'This first delivery represents a significant step forward for the Future Aircrew Training program and for the next generation of Royal Canadian Air Force pilots,' said Dwayne Charette, President of Airbus Helicopters in Canada.
