Aker Solutions expects to reduce its workforce by just over 500 full-time positions in 2026, corresponding to nearly 5 percent of the company's approximately 12,000 employees, according to a press release.

About 300 of the cuts will affect the Verdal shipyard, taking effect from early spring 2026, while the remainder will impact several operations in Norway and internationally.

The measures are being implemented in response to a lower expected level of activity in 2026 compared to 2025, as the market for new projects in oil, gas, and renewables is developing more slowly than anticipated.
