STORY: The U.S. has so far reported seven of its personnel killed in the conflict with Iran.

But while official figures on injuries remain limited, Reuters sources indicate that as many as 150 U.S. troops have been wounded.

The Pentagon had only disclosed eight U.S. personnel seriously injured.

But in a statement after the Reuters report it said around 140 had been wounded, mostly with minor injuries.

Defense Department spokesperson Sean Parnell said they were receiving the highest level of care.

He added that 108 of the wounded service members had already returned to duty.

Reuters wasn't able to determine the nature and severity of the injuries suffered.

Iran has launched retaliatory strikes against U.S. military bases since the start of the conflict on February 28.

Eyewitness video released Friday showed fire and smoke rising near Kuwait's Ali Al-Salem Air Base, which hosts U.S. forces.
