BASF is acquiring U.S.-based biological crop protection specialist AgBiTech, thereby reinforcing its business with sustainable solutions for agriculture.

The agricultural chemicals division of BASF has reached a corresponding agreement with investment firm Paine Schwartz Partners and other AgBiTech shareholders, the chemical group announced on Tuesday. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2026 and is still subject to regulatory approval. The company did not disclose financial details.

With the acquisition, BASF aims to expand its position, particularly in the fast-growing market for biological crop protection in Brazil. AgBiTech was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Texas. The company specializes in combating crop pests using naturally occurring viruses.
