MUNICH, May 19 (Reuters) - German battery manufacturer Varta will cut 350 jobs and stop production of button cells in the southern town of Noerdlingen after losing its most important customer, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.

o The move affects around 350 jobs in Noerdlingen and at the company headquarters in nearby Ellwangen.

o The contract with the customer, which was not named, expires at the end of October.

o Varta's Noerdlingen plant almost exclusively produces rechargeable CoinPower button cells for Apple's AirPods. These will be supplied by a Chinese supplier in the future, a source said.
