Bayer can now offer its Stryax herbicide following government approval.
The Environmental Protection Agency registered low-volatility dicamba herbicides in 34 states, which opens the door for Bayer to launch Stryax, a restricted use pesticide, the company said Friday.
The German pharmaceuticals and agricultural products maker now plans to seek state approvals, said Ty Witten, head of Bayer's commercial stewardship in crop science.
Stryax helps manage glyphosate-resistant broadleaf weeds and other tough to control weeds. It also offers up to 14 days of soil activity in certain weeds, helping farmers keep fields clean, Bayer said.
The pesticide was designed as an additional herbicide option for in-crop use with XtendFlex soybeans, Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans and cotton with XtendFlex technology.
The registration allows for the use of approved low-volatility dicamba herbicides in-crop up to 7 days pre-harvest in XtendFlex cotton and up through R1 in XtendFlex soybeans.
