NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) - U.S. research firm Bernstein Research has raised its price target for BASF from 53 to 61 euros and maintained its "Outperform" rating. Disruptions resulting from the conflict in the Middle East have resolved several overcapacity issues within the chemical industry, analyst James Hooper wrote on Friday evening. Even if the Strait of Hormuz remains open, the supply chain backlog is sufficient to drive positive earnings surprises in the short term. Hooper explicitly cited BASF and Arkema, the latter of which is no longer rated negatively./ag/ck
