Boeing received a $2.34 billion modification to a contract it has with the U.S. Air Force to build an E-7A aircraft prototype.

The Defense Department said Thursday the modification brings the total face value of the contract to $4.91 billion. The E-7A aircraft aims to detect, identify, track and report airborne activity.

Work under the contract will be performed primarily in Seattle, as well as in Oklahoma City; Huntsville, Ala.; and Heath, Ohio. It is expected to be completed by Aug. 10, 2032.

Research, development, test and evaluation funds from fiscal 2026 of $31 million are being obligated at time of award, the Pentagon said. The Air Force's Lifecycle Management Center at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts is the contracting activity.
