Several people were injured after the nose gear of a parked Boeing 787-9 jet at Frankfurt airport unexpectedly collapsed on Thursday.

Flight operator Deutsche Lufthansa said that at the time of the incident passengers hadn't boarded the aircraft yet, which was scheduled to depart for Los Angeles.

The crew and airport staff that sustained minor injuries received medical treatment, the German carrier group added.

"We're aware of the incident and are supporting our customer," a spokesperson for Boeing said.

The German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation started probing the incident, with Lufthansa assisting in the investigation, the carrier said.

Net sales (including intragroup) break down by market as follows: - defense, space and security (46.3%): military aircraft and mobility systems (warplanes, helicopters, and air defense missiles), support services (logistics, engineering, maintenance and training services) and space equipment (satellites, launch pads, etc.); - commercial aviation (30.4%).
