A drug developed by AstraZeneca and Daiichi Sankyo to treat breast cancer has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Enhertu was approved for two new breast cancer indications for use before and after primary treatment in patients with Stage 2 or Stage 3 breast cancer, the companies said Friday.
The product was discovered by Daiichi and has been jointly developed and commercialized by both companies.
The approval was based on results of recent trials with positive results.
Following the approval in the U.S., AstraZeneca owes Daiichi $155 million in milestone payments for the positive early stage breast cancer indications.
Sales of Enhertu in the U.S. are recognized by Daiichi.
