Rising demand for biomethane

As shipping continues to accelerate its decarbonisation efforts, biomethane has emerged as a potential fuel to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Regulation is contributing to the rising demand, with FuelEU Maritime entering its first year of compliance in 2025 and providing strong incentives for the adoption of low-carbon and renewable fuels.

Clarksons' Hamish Watson (Biogas Desk) along with Kenny Liu Man Hin (Biogas Desk) at TotalEnergies will host a panel session exploring one of shipping's fastest-evolving fuel markets: biomethane. Topics including:

· The emergence of biomethane in shipping

· Market dynamics shaping demand and pricing

· The role of EU regulation driving demand

Biomethane is increasingly demonstrating its potential as a scalable solution for maritime decarbonisation and being well received across the industry.

As both sponsor and attendee, Clarksons looks forward to engaging with industry stakeholders and contributing to the discussion of sustainable fuel solutions in shipping.
