April Live Cattle futures settled higher after rebounding from early morning lows, while April Feeder cattle futures finished with a minor loss despite a significant recovery from the session bottom. Lean Hog futures also saw modest gains. The wholesale box beef report remained firm with gains in both choice and select cuts. Market participants monitored daily slaughter rates which remained consistent with previous weeks. Outside volatility in equity markets contributed to a weaker open, though markets stabilized in afternoon trade as volatility measures for Live Cattle and Feeder cattle futures softened from recent highs.
