Communications-services were more or less flat as traders hedged their bets on the outlook for deal activity in the sector.

Paramount Skydance shares continued a recent retreat, amid doubts about its planned acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.

The Justice Department and Live Nation reached a settlement that resolves the government's monopolization lawsuit against the company, sparing the concerts-and-ticketing giant from the threat of its business being broken up.

Publisher Simon & Schuster named former Amazon.com executive Greg Greeley as its new chief executive officer.
