FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - The DAX is once again attempting to break through the chart barrier at 25,000 points on Wednesday. According to broker IG, the German benchmark index was priced 0.1 percent higher at 25,013 points about two and a half hours before the regular Xetra opening. On Tuesday, the DAX temporarily climbed to just over 25,075 points, but then slipped back below the round-number threshold. The next interim high, set just a week ago, is just under 25,100 points.

Fresh momentum from US indices is lacking, even though the Dow Jones Industrial once again reached a record high. Ultimately, however, little of the price gain remained. The other indices hesitated to push toward their own record levels.

Not only US investors are eagerly awaiting the US labor market report, which is due on Wednesday afternoon Central European Time./ag/stk
