Following the pullback at the start of the week, Dax investors are launching another recovery attempt. The German benchmark index rose 0.3 percent to 24,504 points at Wednesday's open. 'Nervousness is mounting, and Iran is only one part of the story,' commented Andreas Lipkow, analyst at broker CMC Markets. 'More importantly, the overheated US tech stocks, previously driven by AI hype, have now entered a correction phase.'

Infineon was among the strongest performers on the Dax. Shares in the chipmaker climbed around three percent after shedding approximately 14 percent over the past five trading sessions. In contrast, software giant SAP fell by around 2.5 percent, sliding to the bottom of the index. Investors are anxiously awaiting the US consumer price data due this afternoon. US inflation is expected to have risen to 4.2 percent in May, more than double the Federal Reserve's target.
