Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, was closed for several hours on Monday evening after two to three large drones were detected in the vicinity. The airport only reopened at 00:30 in the early hours of Tuesday. At least 50 flights were diverted to other airports, including Malmö and Landvetter.

The disruption continued into the morning, and according to Danish broadcaster DR, 10 out of the first 26 departures from Kastrup were either cancelled or delayed.

Police reported that the drones left the area on their own and have launched an investigation into the incident. An SAS plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Kastrup due to fuel shortage.

Shortly thereafter, Oslo's Gardermoen Airport was also closed following a drone alert. Norwegian and Danish authorities have initiated a joint investigation to determine whether there is any connection between the drone incidents.
