BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - Individuals purchasing a new electric vehicle will be eligible to apply for government subsidies starting next Monday. Federal Environment Minister Carsten Schneider (SPD) intends to activate the application portal this coming Monday, according to a statement from his ministry.
New vehicles registered as of January 1 are eligible for the program. Applications for funding may be submitted retroactively. The financial incentives apply to both the purchase and leasing of new cars.
As a general rule, lower-income earners and families with children are set to benefit more significantly from the new EV purchase and leasing incentives. Depending on individual circumstances, government support ranges from 1,500 to 6,000 euros./hrz/DP/stk
