Encompass Health announced that it expects to open the first of its two planned rehabilitation hospitals in the Philadelphia suburbs in the spring, an expected investment of more than $100 million in the region. The company has set a May opening date for its 50-bed inpatient rehab hospital in Glen Mills that will operate as Encompass Health Concordville. The company expects its planned 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation Montgomery County hospital in Lower Providence to open in the fall.
A specific date has not yet been set. The Concordville hospital will provide rehabilitative services to help patients regain function and independence as they recover from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions. Similar services are expected to be provided at the company's Lower Providence hospital at 2660 Audubon Road.
Encompass Health announced plans to open a rehab hospital in Montgomery County in 2022. Its initial plans set a preliminary 2025 target date for the opening. The Concordville location will be Encompass Health's 10th hospital in Pennsylvania.
