Shares of energy companies rose alongside oil futures amid skepticism that Russia and Ukraine would reach a peace deal.

A five-hour meeting at the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner concluded without reaching an agreement to end the war, with territorial claims a reported sticking point.

Separately, Ukraine is now targeting Russia's shadow fleet of oil tankers, which rely on an opaque web of ships to skirt sanctions, with drone strikes.
