Eni has signed an agreement with the government of Gambia for the assignment of offshore exploration block A1, located in an area of the Atlantic margin with high potential for liquid hydrocarbon discoveries.

The oil major announced the move in a statement, explaining that the operation aligns with its exploration strategy, which aims to build a geographically diversified portfolio with opportunities in proven but underdeveloped basins, as well as high-potential frontier areas.

Block A1 covers approximately 1,300 square kilometers offshore Gambia, in water depths ranging from 1,250 to 3,300 meters.
