The agreement announced yesterday by Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez will allow Eni to continue supplying natural gas to the South American country through the state-owned company PDVSA in 2026 in an economically sustainable manner, with the prospect of consolidating and expanding supplies over the long term.

This was the comment from a spokesperson for the Italian energy group regarding the strategic agreement signed by Venezuela with Spain's Repsol, which also involves Eni in the supply of natural gas.

"We are pleased with the possibility, provided for in the agreement, to identify solutions for the export of natural gas and liquids, subject to obtaining the necessary legal and regulatory authorizations, thereby strengthening Venezuela's position as a potential regional exporter," an Eni spokesperson said.

The group will evaluate "this important opportunity" also based on its experience in large offshore gas liquefaction projects successfully developed in various countries around the world, the spokesperson concluded.
