Ericsson stated in a release that the company is collaborating with several partners to develop the next generation of mobile networks, 6G, describing itself as the "engine driving the 6G ecosystem." This follows the MWC mobile trade show in Barcelona held last week.

The company is partnering with Intel to develop AI-based 6G infrastructure across computing, connectivity, and cloud, focusing on areas such as AI-driven radio access and core networks.

Furthermore, Ericsson is part of the Linux Foundation's OCUDU initiative to develop an open software platform for mobile networks.

A collaboration is also underway with Nvidia and other players to build open AI-based platforms where AI is integrated into radio access networks, edge, and core networks.

The goal is to accelerate the development toward commercial 6G networks, the company stated.
