The company announced on Tuesday that operating profit fell to €95 million, down from €236 million in the same period last year. Revenue dropped by more than one billion euros to €6.36 billion. Nevertheless, the management board maintained its full-year targets. There is optimism regarding the beet harvest: processing is mostly running smoothly, and sugar yields are above average in most growing regions, the company said.
The main reason for the losses in the first nine months was the sugar division, which posted an operating loss of €136 million due to significantly lower prices and reduced sales volumes. The specialties segment, the bioethanol subsidiary CropEnergies, and the starch division also recorded declines in earnings. Only the fruit segment managed to increase its results, thanks to higher prices.
For the full year ending in February 2026, Südzucker still expects operating profit to be between €100 million and €200 million. Revenue is projected to reach between €8.3 billion and €8.7 billion.
