The financial sector finished slightly in the green on Friday.

It was a strong day for private-markets giants. Ares, Blackstone, Apollo and KKR ended the day higher, recovering some ground after a rough week amid burgeoning skepticism about the health of the private-credit ecosystem.

Big Wall Street banks including JPMorgan, Citi and Morgan Stanley finished with small gains.

Robinhood shares fell after the release of the firm's February trading volumes showed declines.
