For Fincantieri, acquisitions are not at the heart of its growth strategy and the approach will remain opportunistic.

This was stated by CEO Pierroberto Folgiero, speaking to the press at the end of the company's capital markets day.

"Acquisitions are not the core of our strategy: our approach to m&a is opportunistic and linked to the 'make or buy' approach for new products. When we believe that a component of a product is strategic, distinctive, and technologically differentiating, we also consider acquisitions without any taboos," emphasized the company's chief executive.

"These will not be transactions that change the face of the company, nor will they alter deleveraging or the financial position. It is m&a in service of innovation and product development," added Folgiero.

As for rumors about possible Fincantieri interest in Saipem's underwater drone activities, according to Folgiero, there are no updates in this regard.

"All options are always evaluated," he concluded.
