(Alliance News) - Fincantieri Spa announced on Tuesday that it has secured an order from Viking for the construction of two expedition cruise ships.
Additionally, the two companies have signed an agreement for an option regarding two ocean cruise ships.
The total value of the agreements is considered "very significant," meaning it exceeds EUR2 billion.
The deliveries for the two expedition ships are scheduled for 2030 and 2031. The new vessels will be delivered from Fincantieri's Palermo shipyard.
The two options for the ocean cruise ships, both expected to be delivered in 2034, will be placed in the upper premium segment.
With this new order, the partnership between Fincantieri and Viking now includes a total of 26 ships.
Fincantieri shares are down 5.0% at EUR13.77 per share.
