BAD HOMBURG (dpa-AFX) - Hospital operator and pharmaceutical group Fresenius has opened a new innovation center in Bad Homburg. The facility brings together approximately 100 experts from various disciplines under one roof and is designed to bolster research into clinical nutrition, the DAX-listed group announced in Bad Homburg. Over recent years, Fresenius has invested more than 50 million euros in the site.

'With the new innovation center, we are strengthening science at our Fresenius campus in Bad Homburg, promoting collaboration across disciplinary boundaries, and creating short distances for rapid and coordinated decision-making,' said Sara Hennicken, CFO of Fresenius, during the opening ceremony with Bad Homburg Mayor Alexander Hetjes (CDU).

The innovation center is expected to foster interdisciplinary exchange and accelerate the pace of innovation, according to the company. By consolidating teams that were previously organized decentrally, Fresenius aims to significantly advance nutritional medical therapies. Medical nutrition makes a vital, often underestimated contribution to treatment success, particularly for patients suffering from malnutrition.

Through its subsidiary Kabi, Fresenius provides life-saving drugs, clinical nutrition, and medical technology for critically and chronically ill patients.
