(Alliance News) - On Monday, Assicurazioni Generali Spa announced that it has launched a partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization as part of the ACT - Advancing Climate-Resilience and Transformation - program to promote sustainable coffee production in Africa.

The collaboration with UNIDO, according to the statement, aims to strengthen international relations and technical cooperation to improve socio-economic conditions, increase climate resilience, and support the creation of local added value in major coffee-producing communities.

The deal has been financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as part of the priorities of the EU Global Gateway and the Mattei Plan.

The countries involved are Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Malawi.

The strategic objectives particularly focus on promoting multi-stakeholder partnerships and public-private cooperation to mobilize resources and share knowledge for inclusive growth.

Additionally, joint studies will be conducted with particular attention to parametric insurance for the coffee supply chain in the African context. Finally, dialogue and impact measurement will be promoted among public and private stakeholders, including practical tools for assessing social and environmental outcomes.

Generali shares are up 0.5% at EUR35.00 per share.
