Georgia Power to Lower Rates, Providing $285 Million of Annual Savings

Georgia Power, the largest electric subsidiary of Southern Company, will lower overall rates for customers following approval from the Georgia Public Service Commission.

The plan will lower costs by $50 a year, or $4.04 a month, for the typical residential customer using an average of 1,000 kilowatt-hours a month, Georgia Power said Thursday.

Total annual savings for all Georgia Power customers will be about $285 million.

Georgia Power has committed to providing annual savings of $102 a year for the typical residential customer beginning in 2029.
