NEW YORK (dpa-AFX Broker) - U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs has lowered its price target for Evonik from 20 to 19 euros and downgraded the stock from 'Buy' to 'Neutral'. In her sector analysis published on Monday, analyst Georgina Fraser positioned herself for a renewed downturn in the European chemicals industry. The expert made a total of seven rating changes. While she had previously bet on a cyclical boost stemming from the Middle East conflict, two factors have led her to adopt a more cautious stance: the current decline in demand has arrived more sharply and swiftly than anticipated, while increased export pressure from China and greater flexibility in raw materials have 'eroded' much of the perceived market opportunities for European players. Her estimates are now characterized by pricing at the expense of sales volumes and diminished prospects for profitability improvements./ag/zb
