NEW YORK (dpa-AFX Broker) - U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs has slashed its price target for Lanxess from 21 to 13 euros and downgraded the stock from 'Neutral' to 'Sell'. Analyst Georgina Fraser questioned the price momentum resulting from the Middle East conflict and highlighted persistent balance sheet risks at the chemical group. The expert noted on Friday that her upgrade to 'Neutral' in February had been predicated on a recovery in the U.S. business. However, global energy and chemical prices have since taken control due to the war. First-quarter results offered little, if any, evidence that Lanxess was benefiting from higher prices. Furthermore, the outlook for second-quarter operating profit is 10 percent below consensus and 37 percent below her own estimate, Fraser added. In her view, the conflict has heightened risks without offering genuine margin opportunities./ag/zb
