The Italian government is evaluating possible measures to mitigate the impact of the crisis in the Middle East, particularly regarding energy costs.

This was stated in a note from Palazzo Chigi, referring to a government meeting attended by Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi and Snam CEO Agostino Scornajenchi.

During the meeting, "the issue of energy security was addressed, with an analysis of the current and potential impact of hostilities on energy markets and the economy, as well as possible mitigation actions the Government could adopt in the short and medium term," the note said.

A previous government meeting focused on measures to assist and ensure the safety of Italian citizens present in areas affected by the conflict triggered by the attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran over the weekend.
