(Alliance News) - Hochtief AG on Tuesday said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Chantilly, Virginia-based advanced engineering firm Amentum Services Inc to support the global deployment of small modular reactors from Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC.

Hochtief, an Essen, Germany-based construction company said it will use its seven-decade nuclear track record and advanced modular construction expertise to assist Amentum as it rolls out SMRs developed by the London-based aerospace and engineering firm Rolls-Royce.

Amentum is the programme delivery partner for the initial deployments of Rolls-Royce SMRs.

Hochtief will focus on supporting the construction management for Rolls-Royce SMR projects in the UK and EU, with the first deployments planned in the UK and Czech Republic.

Hochtief Chief Executive Officer Juan Santamaria said: "The Rolls-Royce SMR program is a landmark for the global energy transition and a defining moment for Hochtief.

"This win reinforces our strategy to become a leading engineering, procurement and construction management provider for nuclear projects, leveraging synergies with our adjacent growth verticals such as data centers, defense and critical minerals, to deliver secure, low-carbon power for generations to come."
