Honda Recalls 99,000 Vehicles Over Unintentional Air Bag Deployments

Honda is recalling nearly 99,000 vehicles of various models due to weight sensor issues that can cause air bags to deploy unintentionally.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the recall affects certain models of Honda's Acura, Ridgeline, Pilot, Passport, Odyssey, Insight, HR-V, Fit, CR-V Hybrid, Civic and Accord.

In affected vehicles, the front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which in turn can cause air bags to deploy unintentionally during a crash, the NHTSA said.

Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors for free, according to the recall notice. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on July 6.
