IG Group Holdings plc announced the appointment of Andrew Barron as Board Chair Designate and Non-Executive Director of the Group, with immediate effect March 3, 2026. Andrew will formally assume the role of Board Chair upon receipt of the necessary regulatory approvals. Andrew succeeds Mike McTighe, who has served as Chair for more than six years, during which time the business has grown considerably in both scale and diversification.
Mike will remain as Chair until the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained to ensure an orderly transition, at which time he will step down from the Board. Andrew Barron has over 35 years of operating and board experience, primarily in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors. His executive career includes Chief Operating Officer of Virgin Media (2008 - 2013), Chief Operating Officer of Modern Times Group (2003 - 2008) and senior roles at UPC and The Walt Disney Company.
He began his career at McKinsey & Company. He currently holds the following positions: Non-Executive Director at Openreach (since 2020), Non-Executive Director at Verisure (since 2020), Senior Operating Partner at Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners (since 2020), representing Stonepeak on the boards of Delta Fiber and Astound. Previous board appointments include: Deputy Chair/Chair of Tele2 (2018 - 2024), Chair of Comhem (2013 - 2018), Co-Founder of the special purpose acquisition company, Ocelot, and Non-Executive Director of Ocean Outdoor (2017 - 2022), Chair of Primacom (2014 - 2015).
Andrew holds an MBA from Stanford University and a BA from the University of Cambridge. Andrew will assume the role of Board Chair and Chair of the Nomination Committee from 1 April 2026, at which point Mike McTighe will step down as Board Chair, Chair of the Nomination Committee and as a non-executive director of the Company.
